The Range at Lake Norman is proud to offer an ever-expanding array of classes taught by certified instructors on our staff. Below are just a few of their bios.
Jeff Piner brings over 20 years combined military, law enforcement and EMS experience to his role as an instructor at The Range at Lake Norman. His experience includes being a former SWAT operator, Flight Medic and Combat Medic with the Army Special Forces, with whom he served three combat tours with the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. As well as being a Firearms Instructor Jeff is also a Basic and Advanced Life Support Instructor for the American Heart Assoc. and a Tactical EMS Instructor. Jeff teaches our Advanced Concealed Carry, Concealed Carry and First Aid classes.
Sharis “Bunny” Van Sciver has been an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor for many years and is a certified Expert Marksman through the NRA Winchester Marksmanship Program. Bunny is a graduate of Blackwater/Xe, and has a strong background in tactical operations and self-defense. She has worked with the US Army Special Forces and the North Carolina Police Dog Association. Bunny is an Associate Member of the Fraternal Order Of Police, and a supporter of both the Green Beret Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Foundation. Bunny teaches our NRA First Steps Classes, Women’s Self Defense, and our Zombie Defense classes.
Randy Balot has lived in the Charlotte area since 1986, and in Huntersville since 1992. He is a veteran of the US Army 25th Infantry Division. Randy is an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and an NRA Life Member, Glock Certified Armorer and graduate of the Glock Instructor Workshop. His training has included combat handgun at Blackwater and Trident Firearms Academy. Randy teaches our Parent / Child Intro Class and assists in many of our other classes.
