The New Firearm training class is for anyone who has recently obtained a handgun (semi-automatic or revolver) and wants to know more about it. Instruction includes:
- Basics of safe firearm handling
- Basic handgun operation (slide lock/release, magazine release, manual safety, loading/unloading)
- How to safely load and unload your firearm
- How to safely store your firearm (secure storage vs. accessible storage) and transport it in a vehicle
This class does not include live-fire.
NOTE 1: Live ammunition is not permitted in the classroom. If you have ammunition and/or loaded magazines, leave then in your car. Bring yourunloaded firearm into the class (secured in your pistol case or range bag).
NOTE 2: Firearm cleaning is also not included in this class. Refer to the “How to Clean Your Firearm” class on The Range calendar!
For anyone who has purchased their new firearm from The Range, this is a free class. For all others the cost is $19.00 in advance, or $24.00 if purchased in store the day of class.
Participants are required to bring their own firearm.
