In North Carolina, You are required to take an 8 hour class to obtain your Concealed Carry permit. The class covers law, handling a concealed firearm and qualification on the range. All students must show proficiency in handling and shooting a firearm.
Once the 8 hour class is complete, the student will receive a certificate from the instructor. The certificate is valid for 5 years from the date of issue. The student must call their county sheriff and schedule an appointment to have their finger prints taken and fill out the application for your concealed weapons permit. Once your fingerprints are taken, the Sheriff will perform a background check and mental health check on the individual. if everything comes back ok, your permit will be issued and the Sheriff will contact you to pick up your permit.
Your permit is valid for 5 years and must be renewed before it expires. if a permit holder is arrested and/or convicted of a felony, the permit will be revoked by the Sheriff.
